TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

When we're healthy, we see the affects of other people's illnesses and although we don't want to end up in those situations, some of us tend not to give it much thought of how to avoid them. We want to live life and enjoy it. Some think that it just couldn't happen to them. Some think doing the bare minimum of a healthy lifestyle is enough. Some think it comes with old age to become sick. Some think that good genes are enough. Some just don't think about it much at all. I'm going to tell you that it's very important to take care of yourselves not just physically, but mentally emotionally and spiritually as well because they all go hand in hand. It's more than just eating right and exercising. You have to listen to your body when it needs rest and your mind when it needs a break. Nothing is more tragic than knowing that you could have saved yourself from pain and suffering by just treating yourself right. Putting your needs first is a truly selfless act because it shows you that you love yourself enough to save your life. God sends us signs of warning when danger tries to impose on our lives just like the body warns of illness so that we may help ourselves to avoid it. Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, but our self care can be. Take walks on nice days. Take vacations when you're able, even if it's just an overnight trip to a different city. Do the things that relax you and make you happy. Spend time with loved ones that love on you. If you have a little extra money, splurge on yourself. When you're feeling well, get up and clean your surroundings to get rid of the physical clutter and watch the rest of the clutter leave your heart and mind. Sexual wellness is important too. Be aware of who you let inside your intimate spaces because disease doesn't discriminate. Get checked as often as you feel necessary and don't allow anyone to put you in harms way just because they don't care for themselves the way they should. Doctors, therapist, friends, family, and God are all important to self-care. Most importantly YOU are important to the process so please, in all that you do, take care of yourself. Love on you first before you try to love on anyone else!
